Why would you plot your childs BMI using CDC growth charts when a few taps on the BMI+ CDC calculator app result in the same BMI percentile data. Determining the curve on the CDC BMI charts that corresponds to the percentile takes about 1 to 3 minutes and prone to error.
The BMI+ CDC app has two (2) medical calculators for use by pediatricians, medical assistants, nurses, students, medical billers, and parents.
1. Body Mass Index (BMI) Percentile for Girls and Boys Ages 2 to 20 - The BMI+ CDC app displays the BMI Percentile view that computes for the BMI using a formula. By using the BMI result, you can determine the BMI Percentile that matches data in the BMI SQLite© database. The BMI SQLite© database contains data imported from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) spreadsheet.
The resulting BMI in Kg/m², determines the BMI percentile in percent. The BMI percentile data is part of the BMI SQLite© database imported from the CDC .xls files for Body Mass Index (BMI) Percentile for Girls and Boys Ages 2 to 20.
Formula used:
Metric: Weight in Kilograms / Height in Centimeters / Height in Centimeters * 10000
or
English: Weight in Pounds / Height in Inches / Height in Inches * 703
The BMI+ CDC app can also compute BMI in Kg/m² for adults ages > 20 years, but the resulting BMI Percentile results in Not Found for 2 to 20 Years Only. The BMI SQLite© database contains CDC data only for children and adults ages 2 to 20 years.
Source of data: The BMI calculator contains a BMI SQLite© database embedded on the device. The BMI SQLite© database contains data imported from the CDC BMI charts.
2. Temperature converter is an add-on view to the BMI and BMI for convenience to convert temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice-versa. It shows normal temperatures for adults and infants.

Disclaimer:
The developer’s role in creating the BMI+ CDC app is to provide parents, students, pediatricians, and other medical personnel a way to present BMI Percentile information in a more meaningful medium rather than the hard to plot and interpret paper CDC BMI Percentiles. Overall, your pediatrician is the last call in interpreting the results of the BMI+ CDC app calculator. Furthermore, the developer is not responsible or liable for misuse of the data extracted from this application.
Disclosure:
BMI+ CDC app data was imported from the public Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) BMI spreadsheet files. The BMI+ CDC app uses this data to compute for BMI percentile for children and adults from 2 and 20 years as suggested by CDC reference http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/percentile_data_files.htm. This data is not used for adults above 20 years old. This data is stored in the BMI SQLite database embedded on the device.
